Dentists are rarely portrayed as being Heroes compared to all the other Heroes we choose to revere in society.  Better than a quarter century ago at IntrepidTM we figured out that this was a mischaracterization and so we adopted the IntrepidTM brand identity to reflect our belief that Dentists, when unfettered by external influences that interrupt their natural tendency to want to help their patients, are in fact, Heroes. How we came to that conclusion was based deeply and strongly in our familiarity with and knowledge of Brain Science.

There isn’t much discussion in 21st century Dentistry nor was there very much in the 20th century about Brain Science.  There should have been! For Brain Science holds the key to several things concerning potentially Heroic Dentistry, which should never have been overlooked and should not be now. These are:

First, a Dentist can perform a unique function with regard to both individuals and entire families he/she is treating, as a Calming Influence and in the direction of improving the health of patients far beyond simply rendering excellent work as a Dentist;

Second, the anxiety and stress connected to going to the Dentist is unique and pervasive across society and blocks the kind of timely care the Dentist can give or at least slows it down such that patients run the unnecessary risk of medical complications, which good Dentistry performed on time, could have prevented.

Third, there is no question that managing a Dental office, while also treating patients within one, is a highly challenging and intense activity the greater percentage of the time. Stress is a Factor.  And any elaboration of that last statement would remain an understatement no matter how long and complete it attempted to be! New breakthroughs in Brain Science, taught at IntrepidTM have been described by Dentists who have learned them to have a major positive effect on lifting the day-to-day, year to year, as well the long-term prospects of being an independent Dentist.

For these reasons, Brain Science matters a great deal in Dentistry!
